Is It FALL Yet?
Autumn is my favorite season! (And if you’re reading this article, I’m guessing you like it, too.)
Technically, the season begins with the Autumn Equinox, which falls on Tuesday, September 22 this year. But once August ends, and back-to-school shifts into our daily routines, many of us ask the same question: why is it still so hot outside?
If you’re hoping to get into the post-Labor Day, Almost-Fall spirit, here are a few ideas to help you bring in the season a little early, and embrace those Autumn vibes:
Cozy up in a Book Nook.
Whether you take your books home, or read them here at the library, take a minute to get comfy in your favorite reading spot, or try out a new one! (Speaking from personal experience, even adding a comfy pillow to the equation can be an absolute game-changer.) At CCJPL, there are plenty of air-conditioned study rooms, seats and flexible seating to accommodate even the most relentless of readers!
Re-watch your favorite Movie or TV Series.
Fall is a great time to revisit nostalgia. You might even host a movie marathon with your friends! Dusk is already falling a bit earlier – making for the perfect TV-binging environment! Curious if we already have your favorite shows?

Follow a New Recipe.
Check out a cookbook or two and see what you can create! Even if you want to avoid heating up the oven or stovetop, there are plenty of chill recipes that are just as cozy – my favorite is no-bake cookie dough. Looking for cookbooks to suit your dietary needs and preferences? Just ask at the circulation desk!
Enjoy an E-Book or Audiobook Without Ever Leaving Home.
Feeling under the weather, or just too busy to visit right now? Sign into Libby with your Library card and check out a digital title on your phone, tablet, computer, or e-reader. Enjoy a nice cup of your favorite Fall beverage and let the stress melt away for a while. (Bonus points if you make a pillow and blanket fort to relax in!)
Join in a Free Autumn Program with Us!
From Education, to Arts & Crafts, to Gaming, and Building Community, there’s a little something for everybody at the library this Fall. I’m especially excited for some of our textile programs, like Teen “Yarn Painting”, but there are opportunities to engage from ages 0 to 100+! Be sure to keep an eye out for all of the fun programs we host throughout the year! (And yes, they are all FREE!)
And last, but certainly not least, come say HI to your favorite librarians! A change of scenery is nice on its own, but my favorite part of the Fall is seeing others enjoy the season too. I hope you’ll swing by your local public library soon!
