Brrr…the air’s getting colder outside. It’s the perfect time to cozy up with a good game at your local library! Now, you may have known that CCJPL is the place to check out books, movies, and play tabletop games, but did you know that we also have a video game setup just for Teens 7th-12th grade? Visit the TeenHub GameZone to get your game on with us!

In the spirit of the season, here are a few of our coziest video game title picks for December:

Cozy Game Staff Picks

  • A Short Hike by Adam Robinson-Yu & Whippoorwill

Explore the peaceful mountain trails of Hawk Peak as you hike to the top, meeting friends and overcoming obstacles along the way. With a dynamic original soundtrack that changes over the course of your adventure and charming dialogue, this game is as much of an RPG as it is a nature-lover’s dream. Will you race to the summit or take your time to smell the flowers?

  • BLANC by Gearbox Publishing

If you’re looking for a heart-warming co-op game, BLANC is sure to delight, especially if you love adorable animals as much as I do: a wolf pup and fawn must band together against the elements in order to survive a monochromatic snowy landscape in this puzzle-solving rpg. Team up with a friend to control each creature as they work together to find a way home!

  • Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics by Nintendo

What says classic more than good old-fashioned tabletop board games and card games? Now over fifty favorites like chess, mancala, golf, bowling, and darts have been brought together in the convenience of a virtual bundle! Play solo against the computer or challenge friends with co-op mode as you enjoy nostalgic fun and discover new favorites, all from the comfort of your controller!

  • Jenny LeClue Detectivu by Mografi

What cozy games list would be complete without a cozy mystery? In the sleepy little fog-covered town of Arthurton, leap into the pages of a larger-than-life mystery novel as Detective Jenny LeClue – where YOU get to tell the story! With multiple routes, endings and mini-mysteries along the way, it’s time to put your crime-solving skills to the test. Can you connect the clues and clear the name of the falsely accused?

  • Overcooked!: All You Can Eat by Ghost Town Games & Team17

Do you like to cook? Were you BORN to cook?! Can you TAKE THE HEAT?!! Ahem. Well, I hope your teamwork skills are just as good, because this co-op cooking game will have you and your fellow chefs laughing (and panicking) together as you scramble to decide who’s prepping what in this fast-paced game where you need to get your orders out to customers – as soon as possible! Despite the many pressures of the fast-paced culinary world, this game is a great way to cut loose, relax, and remember – there’s always the next lunch rush!

  • Untitled Goose Game by House House & Panic

Oh dear…prepare to go on a wild goose chase!

Run amok on a delightfully mischievous romp through the neighborhood as a silly (wildly destructive) goose. Play solo or local co-op as you overturn gardens, pilfer picnics, and baffle your neighbors in this joyfully chaotic, yet oddly satisfying game.

In the mood for something a little more 8-bit? Teens can join us for a blast-to-the-past on December 18th, 2024 for our Retro Gaming Resort program, where we’ll be playing classic video games on the big screen in the CCJPL Round Room!

If you miss out on this program, never fear – the TeenHub Gamezone is open year-round! Teens 7th-12th grade can sign in for a gaming session with their Library Card or ID – ask your parent or guardian about getting a library card today!
