Calling all Makers!

I have some exciting news to share with you all: the TeenHub Makerspace is home to a brand-new 3-D Printer!

Our old Lulzbot Mini Printer has retired after years of service here at CCJPL, in order to pave the way for its successor, the Bambu P1S! Capable of faster printing speeds and higher print quality overall, there is certainly a LOT to be excited about!

Here are some quick stats on the P1S:

  • Prints using a smaller diameter filament for more detail and definition
  • Fully enclosed to maintain temperature and keep out dust
  • Capable of sending print jobs wirelessly (no PC cable necessary!)
  • Uses open-source software Bambu Studio, with additional support and tutorials built-in
  • Gives users direct access to MakerWorld, Bambu’s ever-growing collection of pre-sliced models, ready to print – getting started with 3-D printing has never been easier!

Want to Learn More?

Teens (ages 13-17) can sign into the Makerspace to explore 3-D printing anytime, by using their library card or school ID (filament will be provided by CCJPL for a fee). But for library patrons (ages 13+) wishing to learn the ropes and get some FREE hands-on printing experience under their belt, you’re in luck! Join us every third Tuesday of the month for an Intro to 3-D Printing Workshop, led by Chris Turner of the NEA 3-D Printing Club!

This educational program will focus on teaching users core principles of 3-D printing, which they can practice with our printer for free in a structured workshop setting. This can not only prepare users for independent projects here at CCJPL, but can also improve their understanding and skills with other 3-D printers they may have access to at home or school.

The first Intro to 3-D Printing Workshop will be held on February 17th, 2026 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the TeenHub Makerspace.

Our Makerspace also has a full user guide with additional details, tutorials, and safety information about the new printer – so you can study up the next time you sign in, or review it online here.
