Events

On Tuesday, July 3rd the Children's Library will show two movies in the Round Room.  While we can't publish the names of the movies here, you can call the library at 935-5133 extension 1120 and ask to find out the titles.  We will show the first movie that has a "G" rating at 10 a.m.  The second movie that has a "PG"  rating will be shown at 2 p.m.

The library will be closed to celebrate the 4th of July on this day.

On Thursday, July 5th kids and their families are invited to come to the library to play board games!  Games like "hungry hungry hippo", "Jenga", "checkers" and others will be on hand.  The games will be out from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

This class is open for experienced and beginning knitters and those who would like to crochet. This class meets in the library in the non-fiction section. If you're a beginner, don't worry about bringing anything, we'll supply you with needles and yarn.

On Friday, July 6th we will pull out the Xbox and the Wii and play video games!  Kids and their families are invited to come to the Round Room inside the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library to play video games anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

It's a competition that has been featured in at least one young adult book series - the battle between vampires and werewolves has been brewing.  Join us on July 7th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a night of trivia, costumes, games and snacks!

The theme for the teen side of Summer Reading Club is themed "Own the Night".  As Summer Reading Club comes to an end we're wrapping things up with a teen lock-in at the library!  The event will start at 7 p.m. and will end at 7 a.m.  Teens will be entertained with a night of games, trivia, movies and snacks.  This will also be the night the GRAND PRIZE for teens will be handed out.

This is by invitation only, so you must be registered for Teen Summer Reading Club to attend.

To help us end a fun-filled Summer Reading Club, the library will host a Murder Mystery Party.  Library staff members will dress up in costumes to go along with the theme for the party.  Patrons are needed to come to our party and solve the crime!  Prizes will be awarded.  You are also welcome to dress up in costume!  The party will start at 4 p.m. inside the library and will continue after hours.  This is a live action event with a lot of audience participation.

The Women's Discovery Center is an organization that strives to help women in the community.  One of their most popular service projects is "the closet," which is a collection of professional clothes women can choose from that have been donated by the community.  Faye Cox will lead this Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, August 1st.  Lunch and Learn is a free class offered every Wednesday at noon.  Participants are encouraged to bring in their lunch and get ready to learn!

This class is open for experienced and beginning knitters and those who would like to crochet. This class meets in the library in the non-fiction section. If you're a beginner, don't worry about bringing anything, we'll supply you with needles and yarn.

 Join us on Thursday, August 2nd for Totally Tweens from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to make dog and cat toys!  A representative from the Craighead County Extension Office and 4H will be on hand to help.

This program is for tweens who have completed 4th-6th grades.
