We're firing up the video game systems for two game days during Summer Reading Club!  Join us at 10 a.m. on June 20th and July 18th.

The storytellers from the Act!vated Story Theatre will share "Tales of Ambitions and Dreams" to go along with the summer 2012 theme of "Big Dreams".  Join us at 10 a.m. at Parker Park Community Center or at 2 p.m. at the Mall at Turtle Creek.

The Goldsby Public Library will hold storytime at 11:30 every Wednesday. Join us at the library located at 240 Greenwood Street in Lepanto.

Representatives from Nirvana Yoga Studio will once again take over Lunch and Learn when they offer "Yoga for Beginners" on Wednesday, June 20th.  You are encouraged to wear stretchy pants this day if you want to - even bring in a yoga mat if you already have one.  If you don't want to get that involved, you can come in straight from work on your lunch break and learn right along with the rest of us!

Our final concert of the summer will feature Vikki McGee.  The concert will start at 6:30 p.m. on June 26th on the lawn at 315 Oak Avenue. Bring your chairs and blankets, even your picnic baskets, and enjoy the music. Our concert series is sponsored by Andy's Frozen Custard! They will be handing out free custard at each of the four concerts - stop by and say thank you when you pick up your free treat!

In June, the Down the Rabbit Hole Book Discussion Group will read "Talented Mr. Ripley" by Patricia Highsmith.  This group meets at 6:30 p.m. on June 26th in the Civic League Room.  Pick up your shared copy of this book at  the library.

During the month of June the Children's Department staff has activities planned for for families with school-aged children.

We have all seen the cute fascinator hats worn over on the other side of the "pond" by the royals and others.  This is  your chance to make your own fascinator!  We will make our own fascinator's using ribbons, bows, headbands and hot glue guns.  Staff members Kristy Gates, Valerie Carroll and Sara Stuart will lead the class.

We've all heard of the different "cons" that take place across the country: Comic Con, Dragon Con, Wonder Con...can't make it to any of those? Don't worry! The library has you covered! Come to our "Mini Con" on June 29th starting at 6 p.m.  Our Teen Zone Nin(j)a will walk you through the pros and cons of con.  Teens are encouraged to wear costumes and partake in snacks!

On Monday, July 2nd the Children's Library will host a day of drop-in crafts from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.  Kids will be able to make crafts to use to celebrate Independence Day.

On Tuesday, July 3rd the Children's Library will show two movies in the Round Room.  While we can't publish the names of the movies here, you can call the library at 935-5133 extension 1120 and ask to find out the titles.  We will show the first movie that has a "G" rating at 10 a.m.  The second movie that has a "PG"  rating will be shown at 2 p.m.

The library will be closed to celebrate the 4th of July on this day.

On Thursday, July 5th kids and their families are invited to come to the library to play board games!  Games like "hungry hungry hippo", "Jenga", "checkers" and others will be on hand.  The games will be out from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

It's a competition that has been featured in at least one young adult book series - the battle between vampires and werewolves has been brewing.  Join us on July 7th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a night of trivia, costumes, games and snacks!

For this Lunch and Learn event, Mimi Cox of the Master Gardener's club will lead a class on invasive plants in Arkansas.  Lunch and Learn is a free class taught every Wednesday at noon in the Round Room of the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library.  We ask that you bring in your lunch and prepare to learn! These classes are really fun and best of all - FREE!

The Poinsett County Library will host Wii gaming every Wednesday at 1 p.m. 

The Marked Tree Public Library will host storytime every Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The library is located at 102 Locust in Marked Tree.

The Poinsett County Library will host craft days every Wednesday at 2. The library is located at 200 N. East Street in Harrisburg.

Join the Caraway Public Library for crafts every Wednesday during the summer from 2-6 p.m. This storytime is open to children of all ages. The library is located at 102 East State Street in Caraway.

The West Poinsett County Library will host game days in June and July every Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Teens are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 18th at 4 p.m. for a book discussion group in the Round Room.  The book for the month of July is "Anna Dressed in Blood" by Kendare Blake.

Join us this summer for our Summer Reading Club. This year the theme is "Dream Big". Lapsit Storytime is for children from newborn up to 24-months-old. This storytime includes fun with books, fingerplays, songs and action followed by free-play and networking.

The McAdams Public Library will host various activities for teens during June and July!

Join us this summer for our Summer Reading Club. This year the theme is "Dream Big". Pre-K Storytime is for 4-year-olds and 5-year-olds. Adults are not required to stay, but are always welcome.

This class is open for experienced and beginning knitters and those who would like to crochet. This class meets in the library in the non-fiction section. If you're a beginner, don't worry about bringing anything, we'll supply you with needles and yarn.

Join the Goldsby Public Library at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoons for craft days. The library is located at 240 Greenwood Street in Lepanto.

Our "tweens", which are those who have just finished up 4th, 5th and 6th grades, get their own set of activities every Thursday!  On July 19th tweens will have a bracelet worklet workshop!

The West Poinsett County Library will host two storytime sessions on Thursdays in June and July. This storytime is for children who are 3-years-old to 7-years-old. The library is located at 203 West 2nd Street in Weiner.

Our annual Genealogy Night Lock-In will be held on Thursday, July 19th.  The lock-in starts at 6 p.m. and goes until midnight.  Join us for an evening of beginner research, special speakers, expert help for your problem areas and door prizes!
