We've had an increase in the number of people requesting help with their resume so we will be offering a series of "resume workshops" in the month of November.  If they are successful, we will continue this into the new year!  The two hour session will be a drop-in for those who would like help.  We can review your resume for content, organization, formatting and consistency.  For more information call the information desk at 870-935-5133 extension 1121.

Author Tom Birdseye will be our featured guest on Tuesday, February 21st at 7 p.m. in the Round Room at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library.  Birdseye's books include "Storm Mountain", "Look Out Jack! The Giant is Back", "Soap! Soap! Don't Forget the Soap" and "Waiting For Baby".  The public is invited to attend this evening event.  Books will be available to purchase.  Teachers who attend the event will get one hour of continuing education credit.

Ben Bizzle, the Director of Technology at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library will lead the class on e-Readers and answer any questions you may have.  Join us for this free class on Wednesday, February 22nd.

The Kohn Memorial Public Library will give away a "3R Gift Bag", which stands for "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle".

Members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity will be our guest readers on Monday, February 27th from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. leading up to the magic show from Tommy Terrific.

The Children's Department inside the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library is happy to welcome back Tommy Terrific!  Tommy Terrific's Wacky Magic show is always featured during the month of February as part of our Black History Month Celebration.  Tommy will join us on Monday, February 27th at 7 p.m. in the Round Room.  This show is both educational and entertaining for children and their families.

There are many who have never used a computer, much less the different programs available.  The newest class to be offered by Information Services is an introduction to computers.  This class will review basics you need to know to use a computer.

For Teen Tech Week the Teen Zone at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library will host a Teen "Petting Zoo" featuring electronics from Best Buy.  This will be a great way to introduce teens to the newest and most popular technology out there.

The days are getting longer and the sun is starting to get brighter across the area and that has many thinking about gardening!  On Wednesday, March 7th Erik Grant from the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service will teach a class on container gardening.  There will be several barrells available for patrons for free.  First come, first served!  If you register for this class you will be added to the list for one of the containers!

Reference USA is one of the many Databases available to library patrons.  It is a great tool for small businesses, those looking for a job, find articles for research, and many other business related topics.  Nathan Whitmire and Kristy Gates with Information Services will lead this class.

During our Spring Break "Staycation" at the library, the Children's Library staff will show a family movie in the Round Room on Tuesday, March 20th starting at 2:00 p.m.

You may be familiar with our Zumba Fitness class offered twice a week at the library.  This class is very popular with library patrons.  However, there may be many who have no idea what is involved in the class.  This Lunch and Learn will be a great opportunity to learn more about the class and get some information on how this is a fun way to get a good workout.

During our Spring Break staycation we're going to have a family board game day!  Join us in the Children's Library from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21st.  Registration is not required, but is encouraged to let the staff know how many plan to attend.

Ok, you've made your own angry bird! Now it's the opportunity to play a real life game of angry birds and beat those pigs!  Join us on this Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
